Clifford Behrens received his Ph.D. in anthropology, concentrating on the application of scientific approaches to understanding human adaptation. With a blend of breadth and mastery, he has effectively combined mathematical rigor with detailed ethnographic field data.

Field work among the Shipibo Indians of Peru has enabled Behrens to publish several papers on diet and subsistence strategy in the Amazon Basin. Well-known nationally for his exacting and innovative research, Behrens was invited to submit a paper to the 81st annual meeting of the American Anthropological Association.

The skills Behrens developed as a graduate student facilitated his major contribution to the University. Appointed to the anthropology department committee on computer usage, he helped develop an extensive computing program. He has generously worked with students and faculty, introducing them to computer-aided data analysis techniques. Currently a researcher for Psychometrics, Incorporated, Behrens aspires to a career in the field of economic development.
