Emma Encinas has selflessly contributed her time and efforts to many Southland organizations. A World War II widow, she is an active volunteer in special services to aid disabled veterans. Encinas worked in the clothing industry from 1940 until 1970, putting her two children through college. She graduated from UCLA in 1976 with a degree in Spanish, and now she works on campus as a purchasing supervisor.

For the past 30 years, various church, missionary, hospital and children’s interest organizations have benefitted from the fundraising support and dedication of Encinas. As Boys Scouts of America area president and chair, she was the first woman ever elected to office by the organization. Active in International Orphans, Inc. since 1959, she continues to tirelessly contribute her time to Children’s Village, USA; serving as recording secretary, telephone chair, historian and hostess chair for special events. She also volunteers at the Braille Institute.
