Harry Handler ’51

Dr. Harry Handler came to his position as superintendent of schools for the Los Angeles Unified School District with extensive experience. He began his career in education in 1952 and has successfully moved through the ranks of educational administration. In 1970, Dr. Handler was appointed by the U.S. Commissioner of Education to the task force for the establishment of the national right to read effort and the planning team for the establishment of national priorities.

Dr. Handler has been honored as Distinguished Lecturer on Urban Education in America by the University of Houston and Delta Epsilon Lecturer of the Year at University of Southern California. He earned his M.A. and Ph.D. in educational psychology at USC.
