Harvey Perloff
Through the dynamic leadership of Dean Harvey Perloff, the UCLA Graduate School of Architecture and Urban Planning has evolved from embryonic stages to a position of international prominence. Perloff exemplifies the highest traditions of teaching and scholarship. While he carries a heavy administrative load, Perloff continues to teach classes and advise students.
Perloff is a widely published scholar and leader of the profession and has come to be recognized as the dean of American urban planners. He was recently named the first recipient of the Distinguished Service to Planning Education Award given by the Association of Collegiate Schools of Planning.
Perloff is active with Design for Sharing, Royce 270 and acts as chair of The Deans’ Committee creative Problem Solving program. He is also currently a trustee of The UCLA Foundation Board of Trustees. Perloff is an author or coauthor of 17 books, 15 monographs and more than 100 articles on environment, urban and regional development, social policy and developing areas.
