John Williams

John Williams, a widely acclaimed composer-conductor, is known for his musical magic. The successor to the late Arthur Fiedler, as conductor of the Boston Pops Orchestra, Williams brings the genius of his composition to live performance. In a career spanning more than 25 years, Williams has composted the music and served as music director for more than 60 films, including: Raiders of the Lost Ark, Superman and Goodbye, Mr. Chips. For his achievements in the cinema, he has been nominated for 16 Academy Awards, receiving Oscars for his original scores in Jaws and Star Wars and for his film-score arrangement for Fiddler on the Roof. An 11-time Grammy Award winner, Williams is also the recipient of two Emmys for his work in television and has been awarded several gold and platinum records. He attended UCLA in 1953 before going on to study at Juilliard School of Music in New York.
