Kennicia “Kenni” Friedman ’63, M.B.A. ’64

Communities, both collectively and individually, depend on individuals like Kennicia “Kenni” Friedman for support and guidance. Friedman is a unique individual in that her service extends from activities within a small community, to concerns of interest and import to all people, to leadership in organizations providing a common link to all communities.

Friedman’s most significant contribution has been her work with the League of Women Voters of California. Since 1981, as president of the organization, she has supervised the production of the numerous televised debates among candidates for governor and the United States Senate as well as providing leadership for the organization to continue other citizen education efforts. As the director of publications for the State League, Friedman ensured the continued nonpartisan philosophy of the organization. As vice president of the league, she provided management and training for 40 local leagues in different communities in the state. In 1981, she served the national organization as the budget director.

Friedman is also a board member and the chief financial officer of the California Coalition for Fair School Finance and a host parent in the American Field Service program.
