Amy Adrion, M.F.A. '09
Amy Adrion, M.F.A. '09, brought her feature documentary "Half the Picture" to the SXSW Film Festival March 9-18 in Austin, Texas, following its world premiere at the Sundance Film Festival in January. The film features interviews with high profile women directors including Bruins Catherine Hardwicke, Ava DuVernay, Penelope Spheeris '69, M.A. '73, Gina Prince-Bythewood '91 and Patricia Cardoso, M.F.A. '94, as well as Lena Dunham, Miranda July, Karyn Kusama and many more. Adrion also participated in a panel discussion at SXSW titled, "The Female Gaze: Alternate Fact or Actual Movement."
The production included many Bruins on the crew, including Adrion and David Harris, M.F.A. '07, as producers, director of photography Soraya Sélène, M.F.A '11 (with Yamit Shimonovitz), editor Kate Hackett, M.F.A. '09, assistant editor Karen Smalley '99, M.F.A. '06, composer Laura Karpman (with Nora Kroll-Rosenbaum), and additional directors of photography Cat Deakins, M.F.A. '12, Jenn Gittings, M.F.A. '12, Eve Cohen '03, M.F.A. '08 and Jeanne Tyson.
