Kristen Hansen Brakeman '85The first book by Kristen Hansen Brakeman '85, "Is that the Shirt You're Wearing?," published last year. A collection of humorous essays about life and family, the book was listed in Red Tricycle's favorite new books for parents and is also the subject of a feature in the May issue of L.A. Parent magazine.

Brakeman earned her bachelor's degree in anthropology and a master's degree from Loyola Marymount in 1987. She has been published in the Washington Post, the Huffington Post, CS Monitor, New York Times, Orange County Register, San Francisco Chronicle, Working Mother magazine and The Sun magazine, among others, and was named Humor Writer of the Month by the Erma Bombeck Workshop.

While pursuing her writing, Brakeman has maintained a career working behind-the-scenes in television production. She has worked on variety and award shows such as The Academy Awards, The SAG Awards, Comedy Central Roasts, and most recently, Seth Rogen’s "Hilarity for Charity" on Netflix.
