Valerie Weinberg ’82

A commitment to learning and a sense of service to others characterize Valerie Weinberg’s undergraduate years at UCLA. An economics major with a 3.96 grade point average, Weinberg served as president of the College Honors Student Council and the Alpha Lambda Delta Freshman Honor Society. She was an active participant in the UCLA Mentor Program and served as a board member of the economics department’s Undergraduate Student/Faculty Communications Committee. Her desire to make positive contributions to society has motivated her to do extensive psychobiological research; many of her findings have been published. Weinberg received a Dean’s Research Grant to study psychobiological stress and a President’s Undergraduate Fellowship Grant to study psychobiological stress and a President’s Undergraduate Fellowship to study the link between cancer and opiod, non-opiod, and morphine analgesia. For her continued outstanding scholarship, she was award a Richard Carleton Meeker, Jr. Honorary Scholarship and a Getty Oil Company Scholarship through the economics department. After graduation, Weinberg will attend UCLA School of Law.
