The Young Alumni Career Launchpad is geared towards young professionals, 1-3 years out from graduation looking for a review of professional development basics and a community of like-minded Bruins navigating this season. This program is perfect for those that feel like they didn’t have the time to work on these skills as a student, and are looking to launch their professional career right. If you’re ready to take the initials steps in your career, join us for this 3-part series to refresh your professional toolkit, update your resume and practice those networking skills.
Objectives
- Provide foundational career education for young alumni to assess their skills and gain confidence in themselves.
- Connect young professionals to the larger UCLA Alumni community to network and seek professional opportunities
- Equip participants with skills and knowledge to sharpen their professional tools.
We will cover the following topics:
Session 1: Saturday, Feb. 1
10 a.m. – 3 p.m.
- Assess personal interests and skills using CliftonStrengths Assessment (a $50 value)
Deadline to sign up is Jan. 30 - Resume and cover letters fundamentals
- Networking online (LinkedIn and UCLA ONE)
Session 2: Saturday, Feb. 22
10 a.m. – 2 p.m.
- Networking techniques
- Connecting with Bruins near and far
- Preparing for informational interviews
- Resume reviews
Session 3: Saturday, Feb. 29
10 a.m. – 2 p.m.
- Job search and understanding job descriptions
- Interview body language and non-verbals
- Negotiating a job offer
- Understanding career design and your role in it
Registration Fee: $60 (includes lunch and session materials for all three days). Cost is non-refundable, non-transferrable and cannot be pro-rated if a session is missed.
