My Alumni Scholarship was one of the reasons I chose UCLA. It let me know that the community wanted me to attend UCLA, and I was more than just a number. Once I got to UCLA, the scholarship was also an opportunity to meet people. My decision to give back to UCLA was not because of the generosity of my previous class, but because I enjoyed my time there and learned a lot from it.
Attending UCLA and majoring in computer science is the reason I’m at Microsoft today. Even more important, I think UCLA allowed me to interact with my generation’s leaders. UCLA undergraduates are a unique bunch. Bruins are a mix of people from diverse backgrounds. Bruins’ leadership qualities are not a result of SAT scores, but gained from rich life experiences and a strong desire to help the community. It was such a privilege being a part of that.
