James Horner '76

James Horner ’76 passed away in a plane crash while flying solo in the Los Padres National Forest on June 22. He was a celebrated composer in the film industry and took home two Academy Awards in 1998 for best film score and best original song for "Titanic" and "My Heart Will Go On." Horner has also been recognized for his film scores on "Braveheart" and "Avatar." He was recently named a UCLA Optimist for his contributions to film, music and music education. He is survived by his wife, Sara and their two daughters.
