Mike Flynn ’05 is the co-founder and chief operations officer for Opportunity Green Business Conference, a weekend conference that provides an exciting, engaging opportunity for business leaders and entrepreneurs to develop a new way of thinking about the convergence of environmental sustainability and business development. The conference regularly attracts industry leaders, entrepreneurs, cultural creatives and Fortune 500 executives, who explore the development of the next generation of sustainable business solutions.

Opportunity Green: Inter 2010, Sept. 22-24, moves the conference from UCLA to an exciting new home at Los Angeles Center Studios. The downtown venue will showcase L.A.’s vital entertainment industry as well as highlight the convergences between sustainability and profitability across all industries. The inter-connected theme for 2010 incorporates interactive pavilions focused around: Smart Cities, Transportation, Food Systems, and Product Design.

Established in 2007, the conference offers groundbreaking panels, case studies and workshop sessions highlighting sustainability strategies, bringing together the brightest minds in the business worlds to collaborate and create effective plans of action.
In addition to the annual conference, Opportunity Green also sponsors related outreach programs dedicated to the purpose. OG 25 is an open business competition recognizing the most promising start-ups committed to a new green economy.

“UCLA has been such a huge supporter of what Opportunity Green stands for,” says Heather Dietz, conference marketing manager, who will graduate in 2011. “In turn, the students feel it is important to help build this organization, and they are a large part of what makes Opportunity Green work so well.”

Dietz is in a core group of seven current UCLA students and graduates, including Kevin Lew ’08, Alli Takido ’95, Casey Ly, Talmage Jordan ’10, Benji Rosen and Jacqui Polk who donate their time and energy to help Flynn stage the conference.

This year, UCLA alumni also qualify for 50% off for the conference. Just use code REG_C400_UCLAALUM when registering at www.opportunitygreen.com.
