Six Ways to Participate in Alumni Career Programming

Part of Alumni Affairs, UCLA Alumni Career Engagement (ACE) offers resources and opportunities for Bruins at all stages of their careers. Whether you are looking for ways to support your student’s career path, share your own career insights, or stay connected to the Bruin community, here are six easy ways to get involved in alumni career programming.

1.   Sign up for UCLA ONE to connect with the Bruin community.

With 50,000 users,UCLA ONE is an online community of Bruins helping Bruins and includes a usership of students, staff, parents, and alumni. As parents and members of the UCLA community, we welcome you to create a UCLA ONE account to take advantage of career resources and assist other Bruins.

After creating an account, we encourage students to connect with alumni on the platform for career guidance, informational interviews, industry introductions, or advice on resumes and/or cover letters. Alumni and parent users can set their preferences depending on their desired level of involvement and students can contact them directly on UCLA ONE to begin networking.

Is your student looking for a job or internship? The UCLA ONE Job Board is updated daily and has more than 300 posted job and internship opportunities from Bruins looking to hire Bruins. As they approach graduation, the Job Board is a great starting point for students beginning their job search.

2.   Be a part of the Alumni Mentor Program

Four years of undergraduate studies go by quickly, and having the guidance of an alumni mentor can make a tremendous impact on a student’s UCLA experience and career trajectory. The UCLA Alumni Mentor Program connects alumni and current students for a year-long mentorship opportunity. Throughout the program, mentors share their personal and professional experience to help students make the most of their education, prepare for a successful career, and leave a lasting impact on our campus community.

Highlighting different degree programs and the various careers that follow, the podcast aims to inspire listeners to shape the career they want while illustrating that the path to success is not always linear.

We believe that all Bruins can, and should, begin preparing for their futures while they are students. Our career preparation programs and events are designed to equip students with the skills to succeed in their professional journey after graduation. Through program advising and mentorship, networking events, panel conversations, and guest speaking opportunities, students can connect with alumni and industry partners to gain insight into specific career fields.
