Henry Edward Metzner '58, Ph.D.
Henry Edward Metzner '58, Ph.D., of Cincinnati, Ohio, passed away on Nov. 13, 2021. He was 85.
Metzner was born in London, England, on Aug. 31, 1936, son of Erno and Grace Metzner. He graduated from Beverly Hills High School and went on to receive his bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from UCLA. He worked for Hughes Aircraft in California and Germany before going back to school to get his MBA and Ph.D., in 1972, from the University of Utah. He taught at Western Illinois University until 1976 and was a professor in the engineering management department at the University of Missouri - Rolla until his retirement in 2001.
Metzner enjoyed gourmet dining and travel to Europe with his wife, Anita. His hobbies included playing golf, playing bridge and painting. "He was especially proud of his eight grandchildren," wrote his daughter Suzanne. "He will be dearly missed."
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Anita F. Metzner; his daughter Suzanne (Brent) Johnston of Cincinnati, Ohio; his daughter Nancy (M. Gavin) McCarty of Inverness, Illinois; his son Anthony (Kasey) Metzner of Ballwin, Missouri; and eight grandchildren.
Per his request, his body was donated to medical science. Memorial contributions can be made to Hospice of Cincinnati.
