Alexander Sercel

Alexander Sercel is a PhD candidate in Dr. Michael Teitell’s laboratory at UCLA studying the mechanisms and biological significance of intercellular mitochondrial transfer. He earned his undergraduate degree in Biology from the College of Creative Studies at UC Santa Barbara and graduated with Highest Honors in 2015 before beginning his graduate research at UCLA. Alexander is Managing Editor of the UCLA science communication quarterly Signal to Noise magazine and serves as a representative of the Molecular Biology Interdepartmental Program to the UCLA Biological Science Council. Finally, Alexander is a Los Angeles native who enjoys his free time playing guitar, gaming with friends and family, and searching for the best bowl of ramen in LA.
