Alexander Miric ’87
Alexander Miric has created for himself a truly outstanding university experience by exercising the multiple dimensions of his personality through solid academic achievement, volunteer work, service to fellow students and employment. The recipient of a Chancellor’s Scholarship and a UCLA Alumni Association Scholarship Award, he has excelled in his studies in psychobiology and worked hard to prepare himself for a career in medicine. However, his horizons are boundless. In what he described as a “slow quarter,” he was at the same time tutoring athletes, presiding over an active service honorary, co-captaining an intramural soccer team and serving as a volunteer peer health counselor. At various times, he has also been a summer orientation counselor, tutor in the Academic Resources Center, “guardian angel” to incoming freshmen, undergraduate teaching assistant and volunteer in the UCLA Medical Center. He is characterized by man as caring, sensitive, warm and endearing. Though a modest person, Miric takes an ingenuous delight in his successes – not the least of which was being accepted by a dozen medical schools. “He’ll make a wonderful doctor,” declared one of his many admirers, “because his way with people is so extraordinary.”
