Angel Fulgencio ’14

16-awards-Angel-FulgencioAngel Fulgencio is the recipient of the 2016 Young Alumni Volunteer of the Year Award. His is the model of a committed volunteer at UCLA. Since responding to the need for alumni volunteers, Fulgencio has become a founding board member of the Alumni Association’s Channel Islands regional network and one of the group’s leading volunteers. As a Bruin and leader, he serves as the chair of communications to help strengthen the regional network through newsletters and emails, as well as supervising the network’s social media channels.

Moreover, Fulgencio takes every opportunity to create a stronger alumni network by attending leadership conferences, network events and reading scholarship applications. A volunteer dedicated to alumni development, he also partners with various alumni networks to support multi-network activities.

Fulgencio is a proud veteran and an active member of the UCLA Alumni Veterans Network (VetNet). He participates in the UCLA Volunteer Center’s program, in conjunction with nonprofit group Operation Gratitude, to support service members by sending handwritten letters and care packages.

A non-traditional student himself, Fulgencio volunteers with the Bruin Resource Center (BRC) to mentor non-traditional and transfer students. Lastly, he continues to stay involved and volunteer with the Community Programs Office (CPO), mentoring Bruins from underrepresented student populations.

Through leadership and tireless volunteering, Fulgencio is helping UCLA and Channel Islands build a more connected alumni community.
