Ann Bauman
To describe Ann Bauman as a dedicated volunteer does not do her justice. On behalf of the University, she has posted more than 11,000 hours of service. Now in her seventeenth year as the chairman of the UCLA Medical Center Auxiliary Thrift Shop in West Los Angeles, her energetic devotion has directly and significantly supported UCLA’s renowned hospital facilities and health care services. Under Bauman’s caring management. The Auxiliary Shop’s net profits from donations have risen steadily and dramatically; its contribution to the UCLA Medical Center now totals nearly $1 million.
For 20 years, Bauman was active with the Westwood Hills Women’s Club Juniors, a civic organization that enthusiastically coordinated fundraising efforts for the UCLA Marion Davies Children’s Clinic and the pediatrics department. She has also participated with the Advisory and Scholarship Committee and the UCLA Affiliates.
Bauman, a third generation Californian, received her bachelor’s degree in Latin American studies from the University of California, Berkeley. Her father, Stephen Cunningham, served as UCLA’s first graduate manager of the Associated Students group.
