Ann Rieber Plauzoles ’67

The Rieber family is part of Bruin history: Charles Henry Rieber, was UCLA's first dean of the College of Letters and Science. Rieber Hall was named in his honor.
As a student, his great-granddaughter, Ann Rieber Plauzoles '67, served as president of her sorority, Gamma Phi Beta, head counselor and director of UniCamp, editor-in-chief of the Southern Campus Yearbook, and was a member of the Spring Sing executive committee. She graduated with honors, being named Chancellor's Marshall, and receiving the ASUCLA Distinguished Service Award.
Since her graduation, her involvement with her alma mater has not flagged. She has hosted undergraduate Bruins at her home every year since 1970 as a Dinners for 12 Strangers host. She has served on eight Alumni Scholarship committees, concentrating her attentions on scholarships and mentoring for community college transfer students and serving as chair of the Community College Transfer Scholarship Committee from 1988 - 1992.
She has served on 28 different Alumni Association committees, including five terms on the Board of Directors. Currently president of Gold Shield Alumnae, Rieber Plauzoles' participation with the service group began in 1976.
Ann Rieber Plauzoles' commitment to UCLA has inspired other alumni and serves as an example for Bruins everywhere:
“…with Ann's friendly cajoling and considerable encouragement (my involvement with UCLA) became a hard-working, determined commitment to UCLA and its scholars that we could both be very proud of.” – Dini Ostrov '65
“Her love of the university and the many ways in which she has shown that affection throughout her life have made her a role model for anyone who calls UCLA home.” – Peter Hayashida '88
