Bryan Ellickson

Bryan Ellickson is an associate professor in the economics department. He received his Ph.D. in economics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1970 and has been associated with UCLA since 1968. Since coming to campus, Ellickson has built a national reputation in urban economics and mathematical economics. His research has focused on urban housing markets and the theory of local public goods.

Ellickson is hailed as a dynamic and insightful scholar and teacher gifted with the unique ability to make difficult material clear. He develops an enviable rapport with his students while challenging them intellectually.

Ellickson serves as a resident consultant for The RAND Corporation to the Housing Allowance Supply Experiment and the Communications programs. He received an NSF research grant for a combination of applied work on urban economics and theoretical work in general equilibrium theory. Ellickson has many published works on economic theory and planning.
