Cynthia Conners ’70, J.D. ’83

Cynthia Conners’ class standing is testimony of her intelligence and dedication. She received her J.D. from UCLA Law School, graduating fourth in her class of 371. Conners graduated from UCLA in 1970 with her bachelor’s degree in political science and captained the women’s gymnastics team. She was comment editor of the UCLA Law Review, in which her comment, “The Death Penalty in Military Courts: Constitutionally Imposed?” was published.

Conners us a captain in the United States Army, and she received a joint service commendation medal for meritorious service. She was the first woman to become a distinguished graduate of the transportation officers’ advanced course. From 1971 – 1973, she was an administrative assistant to Los Angeles City Councilman Joel Wachs.

Conners was a participant in the Mentor Program and spent two years as a small group leader in summer orientation for first year students. She also sang with the UCLA A Cappella Choir and the women’s chorus.

Conners will become a member of the Army Judge Advocate General’s Corps and will be stationed in Korea next year.
