Dov Seidman B.A./M.A ’87
Among UCLA’s very finest students, Dov Seidman has completed both a bachelor’s and a master’s degree simultaneously, with a grade point average of 3.9. He was a departmental scholar in philosophy, a status which is rarely granted. His numerous honors include a Phi Beta Kappa Martin Luther King, Kr. Award, Alumni Association Distinguished Scholar Award and the 1987 Chancellor’s Marshall Award. A finalist for a Rhodes Scholarship, he was chosen for a two year Newton-Tatum Award to Oxford, after which he will enter Harvard Law School. Seidman devoted an impressive amount of time to helping students he tutored in philosophy in the Academic Advancement Program. Additionally, he served as undergraduate representative to various academic senate committees, a member of the ASUCLA Board of Control, volunteer in the Special Olympics and a judge for the UCLA Debate tournaments. He was also selected Homecoming King. Seidman took time for campus to teach Hebrew studies at his temple and to coach freshman football at Beverly Hills High School. He is a kind, honest and generous person with an abiding love of learning. In this young man, an extraordinary humanity is conjoined with energy and power of mind. He is sure to make a mark in the world that will reflect credit on UCLA.
