Frank Marshall ’68
Having produced some of Hollywood’s most memorable films from Back To The Future to Snow Falling on Cedars, Frank Marshall has earned a solid reputation in the entertainment industry as a professional, a visionary and, most importantly, a mentor.
One of his most recent projects was producing last year’s box office smash, The Six Sense, for fledgling director M. Night Shyamlan. Drawing from his years of experience in the industry, Marshall helped guide him through his first studio film and helped make his dream come true as the magic of The Sixth Sense not only entered the history books, but captured the hearts of audiences worldwide.
With more then 50 films under his belt, Marshall has already made several trips to the Academy Awards, having been nominated for Best Picture in 1982 for Raiders of the Lost Ark, in 1985 for The Color Purple with co-producers Steven Spielberg, Quincy Jones and his wife, Kathleen Kennedy; and most recently with Barry Mendel and Kathleen for The Sixth Sense.
The bright lights of Hollywood have not, however, blinded him to the needs of those less fortunate. Throughout his career, Marshall has consistently found time to give back to the community. He is co-chair of Communities in Schools, a national organization matching adults with children in need of guidance and mentoring, as well as a board member of the Don’t Quit Foundation, which establishes fitness centers in at-risk middle schools throughout the country. He is an active member of the United States Olympic Committee, chair of the task force that created the new Untied States Anti-Doping Agency and on the board of UCLA’s Ocean Discovery Center.
Through professional and personal achievements, Frank has been a constant inspiration to his colleagues and friends. Already at the top of the film industry, his integrity and generous spirit will only carry him higher.
