Jennifer Lauren Lee ’05

When former astronaut Sally Ride asked K.C. Cole of the L.A. Times if she knew of a capable student who might work with her on science writing projects, Cole recommended this outstanding student. While interning for Ms. Ride, Lee wrote articles that are to be published online in conjunction with the Sally Ride Science Club, an organization that promotes careers in science for girls in grades 5-8. Her article on lasers in forensics for a middle school-age audience was published in “How Stuff Works” magazine in January 2004.
Lee has a demonstrated commitment to giving back to the UCLA Community as a coordinator for the I'm Going to College (IGTC) and Alumni Relations committees of the Alumni Scholars Club. She is responsible for facilitating IGTC events at which UCLA undergraduates welcome inner city kids during UCLA sporting events. As a Mentor-Mentee Mixer coordinator, Lee organized social events to help alumni and students foster one-on-one relationships.
