Robert Dallek
Robert Dallek, a professor of history, holds a B.A. from the University of Illinois and an M.A. and Ph.D. from Columbia University. His effectiveness in the classroom derives from mastery of subject matter, commitment to high academic standards and affectionate regard for his students. In recognition of these talents, Dallek is honored as the recipient of the Harvey L. Eby Award for the ‘Art of Teaching.’
Professor Dallek’s charm and vigor make his presence accessible yet challenging. He recently presented the Commonwealth Fund Lecture on American History at University College London. Nominated for the American Book Award, his 1979 publication, Franklin D. Roosevelt: An American Foreign Policy 1932-1945, took the distinguished Bancroft Prize. In 1983, he authored the book American Style of Foreign Policy: Cultural Politics and Foreign Affairs.
Dallek has been honored as a Guggenheim Fellow and is an elected Fellow of the Society of American Historians. He will soon receive a fellowship from the American Council of Learned Societies.
