Steven Blum ’83
Steven Blum, a history major, has maintained a sophisticated approach to interdisciplinary studies, integrating a mastery of the humanities with the social sciences. His academic pursuits are focused on the social psychology of defense institutions, historiography and Roman history. His professors state that his independent research and writing equals the best graduate work.
One of his most significant achievements was creating the UCLA Undergraduate Review. As the founding editor and publisher of this interdisciplinary scholarly journal, he saw it garner national recognition as a demanding exponent of academic excellence. The UCLA Alumni Association’s top Distinguished Scholar Award winter of 1982, Blum interned with the University’s Center for International and Strategic Affairs. He has authored several papers on nuclear weapons policy research. One of these was accepted recently for publication in a major professional journal.
