The recipient of countless honors and a participant in numerous aspects of University life and community service, Tracy Gibbs is an extraordinarily accomplished young woman whose achievements reflect a remarkable range and depth. Pursuing an interdisciplinary major in communication studies, Tracy has taken part in the College Honors Program, achieving an academic standing that places her among the top 3 percent of UCLA’s undergraduates. She founded and developed the Communication Studies Honor Society, helped organize an honors seminar in legal communication and conducted several long-term independent research projects on various aspects of communication.

In addition to her academic pursuits, Tracy served as a Summer Orientation counselor and worked as a campus tour guide and as a member of Bruin Belles. She was president of Mortar Board during her senior year and was active in her sorority as internal membership director and chaplain. A founding member of Students Against Drunk Driving, Tracy also worked as a student recruiter for the High School Scholars program. Throughout her tenure at UCLA, she served as a mentor, reader and community organizer for UCLA’s Office of Students with Disabilities.

In the community, Tracy has been equally active. She has been volunteer coordinator for the Special Olympics and volunteered herself for Meals on Wheels. A future attorney, she interned as a paralegal at Bet Tzedek Legal Services and worked as an intern in the San Diego City Attorney’s office.

As one of her friends wrote about her, “It seems that everywhere Tracy goes she leaves it a better place.”
