Member Benefit: Library Online: ProQuest

The UCLA Library is pleased to extend a new benefit to UCLA Alumni Association members—remote online access to select titles from one of the most comprehensive online databases available via the ProQuest Research Library.

From business and political science to literature and psychology, the ProQuest Research Library provides access to articles from a wide range of popular and academic subjects. The Library provides full-text articles to more than 2,500 titles and abstracts, to an additional nine hundred titles, including National Geographic, Nature, The New Yorker, Newsweek, PC World,Psychology Today, Science, Sports Illustrated, Time, and other, more specialized titles.

How do I get access?

If you are already a member of the UCLA Alumni Association, you can get an access code by emailing Alumni Member Services at proquest@alumni.ucla.edu. For membership verification purposes, please provide your name, membership number and address in your e-mail. Your Alumni Association membership must be current with a minimum of a Blue Level membership in order to access the ProQuest Research Library.

If you are not a member of the UCLA Alumni Association, you may join or renew your membership now to receive all the benefits of membership, including access to the ProQuest Research Library. You must sign up with the UCLA Alumni Association and get your member number before requesting access to the ProQuest Research Library. If you have problems joining online, call toll free at 800-825-2586, or locally 310-825-2586 between 8 a.m.-5 p.m., Monday – Friday, or email alumni@alumni.ucla.edu.

How do I access the ProQuest Research Library?

To access the ProQuest Research Library, log in at proquest.umi.com/login.

Download Titles and Abstracts List as a basic research collection. This resource can be supplemented, as needed, with the more extensive online services available by visiting the Library.

What does it cost?

This program is complimentary for UCLA Alumni Association members.

Are there limits or conditions?

Our contract stipulates that the purpose of access to the service is only for personal use and that users will not unduly exploit the resource by using it for commercial purposes or systematically downloading portions of the file. Therefore we will be requiring all users indicate agreement to these terms before an account password can be provided (by logging in you have consented to these terms).

Terms and Conditions for using the ProQuest Research Library: I understand that I am being granted access to ProQuest Research Library in my capacity as a donor to the UCLA Library or as a member of the UCLA Alumni Association and that my use of this service constitutes agreement to the following terms of use. I agree that I will use the materials for personal use only and will not sell the content, use it for commercial purposes, or provide my user name and password to any other individual. I understand that any excessive or systematic downloading on my user account may result in my access privileges being revoked. The UCLA library’s online/off-campus subscription resources (databases, VPN, electronic journals, or e-books) are not available with your membership. The UC campus license agreements restrict off-campus access to current UCLA students, faculty and staff. Special access however is not required to use the UCLA Library Website, the UCLA Library Catalog or Melvyl. The ProQuest Research Library is an additional member benefit that we provide all members in the Blue, Life and Gold tiers who may not have access to any of the UC campus libraries. However, I understand that ProQuest is not affiliated with UCLA or the UC Library system.
