Coach Mick Cronin

2022 APA UCLA Award for Excellence Award

We are honored to welcome our distinguished keynote speaker and inaugural APA UCLA Award for Excellence recipient, Coach Mick Cronin. Coach Cronin has served as UCLA’s head coach for the past three seasons and has compiled a 433-201 record in 19 seasons as head coach. On April 9, 2019, Coach Cronin was named The Michael Price Family UCLA Men’s Head Basketball Coach.

Through three seasons at UCLA, Coach Cronin has guided the Bruins to a 68-30 overall record and a 40-17 mark in Pac-12 games. The Bruins advanced to the NCAA Tournament’s Sweet 16 in 2022 and to the Final Four in 2021, marking the program’s first Final Four appearance since 2008.

Keith Terasaki

2022 APA UCLA Alumnus of the Year Award

This year we are deeply privileged and humbled to be honoring double Bruin Keith Terasaki , MD with APA UCLA Alumnus of the Year award. Keith, through the Keith and Cecilia Terasaki Family Foundation, has endowed a Presidential Chair in the Life Sciences and endowed a Presidential Chair in Physical Sciences, which enables two UCLA professors to conduct significant new research in the Life Sciences and Physical Sciences. The foundation has also donated to the general scholarship fund at UCLA, the Four Deep Student Athlete Scholarships, the UCLA Japan Center, and the UCLA Institute for Environmental Sustainability. They also provide supports to the YMCA, the US Japan Center, and the environmental group TreePeople in terms of hundreds of thousands of dollars. The Terasaki Family Foundation (Keith is the Chair) has donated $ 3.5 million to help build a community center in downtown LA and other nonprofits.

Keith's invaluable nonprofit work transcends many communities by building valuable multiethnic and multiracial programs impacting mental health, homelessness, and medical research. Without a doubt, Keith's tangible contributions have driven the Asian American narrative forward into a better and more hopeful place, efforts that are especially appreciated and needed now more than ever.
