UCLA Alumni Diversity Programs and Initiatives is proud to partner with the UCLA Black Bruin Resource Center and the UCLA Black Alumni Association a host an EmPower Hour event: Conversations on Black Mental Health and Community Wellness.

This event provides a platform to raise awareness about the importance of mental health within the Black community. By openly discussing mental health issues, stigma is reduced, and folks are encouraged and empowered to seek help when needed. Emphasizing community wellness goes beyond addressing mental health alone.

Join us on Feb. 27 at 7 pm in the Black Bruin Resource Center for a discussion featuring Dr. Nicole Presley, UCLA Senior Executive Director of Student Resilience and Mental Health Services, and Dr. Tanya Brown, Training Director of UCLA’s Counseling and Psychological Services, as they explore aspects of holistic well-being, including the role of social connections and cultural engagement, which contribute to a comprehensive approach to wellness in the Black community. Following a conversation with Dr. Presley and Dr. Brown, we invite participants to engage in an open forum to ask questions and share their experiences. Light refreshments will be provided.
