The Book Section of the UCLA Faculty Women's Club invites you to join us on Tuesday June 14 at 12:30 pm. Each year in June, we invite a local author to meet with us. This year our meeting will be on Zoom, and it's a great privilege to have Ever Lee Hairston as our guest speaker.
Ms. Hairston is the author of Blind Ambition, a memoir published in 2017. Her story is that of an amazing and resourceful woman. As one of seven children, Ever Lee Hairston struggled with poverty, racism, and fear of snakes. A product of share-cropping parents, she was raised in a cabin without running water, on one of the biggest plantations in the South. As a young woman, Ever told no one that she was slowly losing her eyesight. Many years later, she has written Blind Ambition, a powerful account of her struggle. Telling her story, she is helping and inspiring others with disabilities to achieve their full potential.
