Slated to open in 2023, the commercial and public arts corridor Destination Crenshaw will be an epicenter of Black American culture, and the most significant public/private Black art program in the U.S.
Join us for a panel conversation highlighting UCLA faculty and alumni contributions to this pioneering “Afrocentric streetscape” including monuments, murals, and augmented reality storytellings.
Darnell Hunt, Ph.D. ’94, advisor to the project and UCLA’s executive vice chancellor and provost, will be joined be President and COO of Destination Crenshaw Jason Foster; art collector and advisor Dr. V. Joy Simmons (M.D. ’78); artist Maren Hassinger (M.F.A. ’73); and arts educator and independent filmmaker Ben Caldwell (M.F.A. ’76).
This program is part of the Fowler initiative, Art of Liberation: Africa and the African Diaspora, generously funded by the Nissan Foundation and The Ralph M. Parsons Foundation.
