November Luncheon with The Affiliates and Westwood Women's Bruin Club

Join the Town & Gown Affiliates and Westwood Women's Bruin Club for our November luncheon. This month's guest speaker is UCLA Assistant Professor of Neurology Jessica Rexach, Ph.D. ’10, M.D. ’12, a specialist in neurogenetics and neurodegenerative diseases.

Rexach and her colleagues are addressing critical questions in dementia research, including why certain cells are more susceptible to the disease and how molecular changes seen in dementia relate to the functional changes that cause cognitive decline. The overarching goal of their work is to identify new drug targets that can protect the brain from dementia, with a major emphasis on drugs that preserve cognitive function. There has been exciting progress in dementia research, leading to promising new treatments for people living with the disease.

Rexach, the inaugural recipient of the John Douglas French Alzheimer’s Foundation Endowed Chair at UCLA, earned her M.D. and Ph.D. degrees through the UCLA-Caltech Medical Scientist Training Program.
