How do our stories shape our success? Alumni Diversity Programs & Initiatives is proud to present an EmPower Hour Book Talk event with Dr. La' Tonya "LT" Rease Miles, a first-generation college graduate, higher education thought leader, and author of Smart Girl. More than a memoir, Smart Girl is a “love letter to the first-gen experience”, exploring identity, resilience, and the power of storytelling in shaping educational and professional journeys.
Dr. Miles will share insights from her own path, discuss the nuances of the first-gen experience, and highlight ways we can better support first-gen students and alumni. This event is for educators, students, and allies who want to foster inclusive learning environments and understand the multiple pathways to college success.
