Dr. Julio Frenk, UCLA’s seventh chancellor, invites you to a special UCLA Alumni Town Hall, UCLA Connects: Developing a Collective Vision for UCLA’s Future—a dedicated space for conversation, reflection, and exchanging ideas. In a discussion moderated by Julie Sina, associate vice chancellor of UCLA Alumni Affairs, Chancellor Frenk will engage with alumni to better understand your aspirations and hopes for UCLA’s future, ensuring that your voices help shape the path ahead.

As part of an extensive listening initiative that includes voices from every campus department and the broader Bruin family, elected officials, business and community leaders, and neighbors, Chancellor Frenk will engage with an open mind and heart, seeking insights to impact the university’s future. The feedback he gathers will directly inform the vision he presents at his inauguration on June 5 and help refine the priorities in UCLA’s 2023-28 Strategic Plan to ensure our mission of teaching, learning, and service remains strong and intact.

UCLA’s strength has always been its people—driven, innovative, and deeply connected to our shared Bruin values. This is your opportunity to help shape the university’s next chapter and ensure alumni perspectives are integrated into its future. Submit a question when you register or ask one during the town hall as time permits. Engage in a conversation that reflects the power of our community.

Dr. Frenk became the seventh chancellor of UCLA on January 1, 2025. He also holds an academic appointment as a distinguished professor in the Department of Health Policy and Management at the UCLA Fielding School of Public Health. Before joining UCLA, he served as president of the University of Miami from 2015 to 2024, where he was also a tenured faculty member. From 2009 to 2015, he was the dean of the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health and the T & G Angelopoulos Professor of Public Health and International Development, a joint appointment with the Harvard Kennedy School of Government. He is the first Latino to lead these institutions of higher education.
