As director of Affinity Networks, Janette Palacios engages with UCLA's “legacy” groups (Affiliates of UCLA, Gold Shield Alumnae and Prytaneans), and student activity-based groups (Alumni Band, Daily Bruin Alumni Network, First Gen Alumni Network, Transfer Student Alumni Network and Veterans' Alumni Network (VetNet)), among other campus-based entities.

Prior to joining Alumni Affairs, Janette worked for the City of Alhambra where she was a project manager for over 15 years.  Janette was also the president of the UCLA Latino Alumni Association and was a founding member of the UCLA Alumni Beachside Network.

Janette is a double Bruin, with a bachelor's degree in sociology with a specialization in Chicana and Chicano Studies and a master's degree in urban planning.
