Shelby Jacobs
Bruin Shelby Jacobs, one of NASA's first African American engineers, was honored earlier this year with an exhibition at the Columbia Memorial Space Center in Downey: “Achieving the Impossible Dream: The Life and Dreams of Shelby Jacobs.” Jacobs designed the camera that took the iconic image of rocket stage separation on the unmanned Apollo 6 spacecraft in 1968.
