Xiaofei graduated from New York University with a BA in Biology (departmental honors) and minors in Computer Science and Chemistry with funding as a NYU Women in Science scholar. Her undergraduate thesis worked to computationally design drugs to treat neurological disease. This interest led her to attend UCLA as a PhD student in the Biochemistry, Molecular, and Structural Biology program. Xiaofei is currently working in the lab of Dr. Alexander Hoffmann in the Department of Microbiology, Immunology and Molecular Genetics funded as a UCLA Cellular and Molecular Biology Trainee. Her thesis research develops mathematical models to understand cell signaling systems of the immune system. In addition to academics, Xiaofei is a strong advocate for mental health awareness in higher education. As an undergraduate, she worked as a Resident Assistant where she served as a peer counselor for wellness concerns in the residential life setting.  In 2018, she pioneered the ‘Navigating Graduate School Lunch Hour Series’ as a member of the Graduate Biochemistry Student Association at UCLA.
