The Parent & Family Association is committed to helping parents and families participate in their student’s experience at UCLA. We believe an informed and supportive family plays an integral role in a student’s educational success. To that end, our office is the first stop for all of your UCLA questions and needs. We offer resources for you to understand your student’s experience at different stages in their collegiate career. To do this, we communicate regularly with families via our helpline, emails, digital newsletters, social media channels and website.

To do this, we communicate regularly with families via our helpline, emails, digital newsletters, social media channels and website.
Helpline & Email Assistance
Parents and families can call or email us with any question, big or small. We want to be your first stop for all things UCLA related. If you have a question, please call our office at (310)794-6737 or send us an email at mybruinis@ucla.edu. We will always try to answer your question first, but will also connect you with other departments for additional information as needed.
Social Media
Our office makes frequent posts through our Facebook and Instagram pages, including information on important deadlines, upcoming parent-involvement events and happenings around campus. Parents may use Facebook and Instagram as additional vehicles to reach our office and connect with other Bruin families. We encourage you to connect with us today!
Newsletter
Bruinlink is our digital parent newsletter that is published five times a year. It is designed to connect families with the university and to inform parents of growing university trends, college student development, important dates and deadlines, events happening on campus, refreshers on UCLA resources and more.
Parent & Family Guide
Our Parent & Family Guide provides a comprehensive overview of many important aspects about the University. In our guide you will find an overview of academic requirements, housing and campus dining, financial matters and student and campus life.
CollegiateParent Insider Guide
Our CollegiateParent Insider Guide includes UCLA specific information, as well as articles that will help to support you and your student throughout your time at UCLA. This guide includes both English and Spanish versions, and you can also view these guides as PDFs (English guide; Spanish guide).

The Parent & Family Association, housed within the UCLA Alumni Association, is committed to helping parents and families support their student’s journey at UCLA and create their own Bruin experience along the way. We believe an informed and supportive family plays an integral role in a student’s educational success. To that end, our office serves as the first stop for UCLA-related questions and needs. We also offer resources for parents and family members to better understand their student’s experience throughout the different stages of their collegiate career.
Mission
In collaboration with offices and departments throughout campus, the mission of the Parent & Family Association is to help parents and families understand the student experience, support student learning, and empower students to take personal responsibility for their social and academic choices. We do this by…
- Providing parents with a formal link to the University
- Equipping parents with knowledge, tools, and resources to champion their student’s overall success
- Offering opportunities for parents to get involved with UCLA activities
Program Goals
The mission of the Parent & Family Association is guided by the following objectives:
- Facilitate communication channels between parents and the University so that parents can receive, or be directed to, reliable University-related information
- Share knowledge through parent-specific resources including the Bruinlink digital newsletter, UCLA Parents social media channels, the Bruin Family Insights podcast and more
- Enable parents to participate in University life by providing a variety of volunteer opportunities on campus, regionally and online that promote the University and enrich their student’s college experience
- Create opportunities for parents to connect and discuss topics of mutual interest or concern both on campus at UCLA and in their local communities around the world
Program & Events
The Parent & Family Association collaborates on several large events on campus throughout the year to provide opportunities for you to visit your student and connect with other parents at both a local and regional level. Below are some important annual events.
Bruin Day (April - Freshman; May - Transfers)
Bruin Day is dedicated to welcoming newly admitted students and families and helping them decide if UCLA is the best fit for them. Events include fairs on academic and student life, workshops and lectures, campus tours and open houses, and much much more! |

Family Orientation (July - September)
New Family Orientation is designed to help new parents and families get acquainted with the university and provide them with information and resources geared towards supporting their students’ success at UCLA. At orientation, parents and families receive information on a variety of topics from faculty and staff presenters. For more information, please visit the New Student & Transition Programs website. |

Bruin Family Weekend (Late October - Early November)
This annual three-day, on-campus event is designed to give parents the opportunity to experience UCLA’s campus from a new perspective with their Bruin. Weekend events include workshops, lectures from faculty and staff, social events, and much more! Event information typically becomes available in September. |

Coffee Socials (Rolling basis throughout the year)
Coffee Socials are informal gatherings held regionally and hosted by a current UCLA parent or family member. This event allows the Parent & Family Association to bring UCLA to communities across the globe. They also provide an opportunity for parents to engage with one another on a regional level and foster connections and relationships between parents and family members of current UCLA undergraduate students. |

Bruin Family Chats (Quarterly via Zoom)
These virtual drop-in events provide a space for parents and family members to ask questions, chat with other Bruin families and meet Parent & Family Association staff and other campus partners. All Bruin families are welcome to attend to learn more about the UCLA experience! |

At UCLA, we believe an informed and supportive family plays an integral role in a student’s educational success.
