UCLA Alumni Affinity Networks

UCLA Affinity Networks facilitate the process of developing and sustaining relationships between UCLA’s community of alumni, parents, students and friends to enhance knowledge, promote friendships, create volunteer opportunities and expand UCLA’s sphere of influence worldwide.

Bruin Varsity Club
The mission of the Bruin Varsity Club is to connect the UCLA family of former student-athletes, athletic trainers, team managers and spirit squad members to the University, while enhancing their relationships with the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics.

Daily Bruin Alumni Network
The UCLA Daily Bruin Alumni Network actively engages the alumni of the Daily Bruin and serves as a robust and lasting community for all former staff members, in support of each other, our current student-staffers and The Bruin. The network provides networking, mentorship, scholarships, career development and community service opportunities.

Faculty Women's Club
The UCLA Faculty Women’s Club welcomes active and retired faculty and professional staff and their spouses and significant others. Central to their mission is the annual awarding of more than $20,000 in scholarships to graduate and undergraduate UCLA students.

First Gen Alumni Network
UCLA’s First Gen Network serves alumni from all backgrounds, ages and ethnicities whose parents or guardians have not received a four-year U.S. bachelor’s degree. This network is part of a broader UC and campus wide initiative to help first generation students make a successful transition to college life, achieve greater success and raise the visibility of first generation alumni.

Gold Shield Alumnae
Gold Shield was founded in 1936 by 12 women to provide service to the university and its community, and has grown from a small group providing two $150 dollar scholarships to an organization of nearly 150 members who have contributed more than $2 million to the UCLA Alumni Scholarship Program, and annually provides more than $100,000 in student scholarships.

Internship Alumni Network
The UCLA Internship Alumni Network supports student career development through internships and mentoring. The organization strives to make internships and experiential learning accessible to students, and to create a pathway for alumni to develop opportunities for students.

Order of the Blue Shield
The Order of the Blue Shield was founded on Aug. 9, 1935 by a group of UCLA alumni whose goal was “to further UCLA's interest and to guard the institution's welfare.” The Order fosters goodwill and friendship by performing other activities concerned with guarding the institution’s welfare.

Prytanean Alumnae Association
Prytanean, the oldest honorary alumnae organization of the UC system, is comprised of UCLA alumnae and recently has opened its membership to men who give service to the university and the community. The word Prytanean comes from the Greek word "prytanes," means representatives; prytanean is a council of chosen ones.

The Town & Gown Affiliates of UCLA
The Town & Gown Affiliates of UCLA, founded in 1937, is a cultural bridge to and from the community adjoining the university. As the university’s oldest Town & Gown organization, the network creates lunch and dinner events with a window into education featuring distinguished faculty lecturers and noted speakers. The Affiliates also support academic scholarships for students through its endowment of more than $1.5 million.

The UCLA Alumni Band
Any person who plays a band instrument and has matriculated as a full-time student and is not currently a UCLA undergraduate student, is eligible for membership in the UCLA Alumni Band.

Transfer Student Alumni Network
UCLA’s Transfer Student Alumni Network serves alumni who began their college career at a different institution and transferred to and obtained their degree from UCLA. With more than 42,000 members, the network provides social and professional engagement, community outreach and mentorship opportunities, networking and community service.

UCLA Alumni Veterans Network (VetNet)
VetNet supports UCLA’s veteran students, alumni, faculty, staff and the local veteran community by promoting student-veteran connections, raising scholarships for student-veterans, maintaining productive dialogue between the student-veteran community and university administration and raising awareness of veterans’ issues through continued service and advocacy.

Westwood Women's Bruins Club
The Westwood Women's Bruins Club was formed to create, foster, develop and encourage the interest of graduates, former students and friends of UCLA in the aims and achievements of the university and to serve the university in a volunteer capacity.
