Welcome to Gold Shield Alumnae of UCLA

Gold Shield is an honorary organization of distinguished UCLA alumnae who are committed to advancing the university through philanthropy, mentorship, and service. Since 1936, our members have played a pivotal role in supporting students, recognizing faculty excellence, and preserving UCLA’s rich academic legacy.

With nearly 150 accomplished women leaders, Gold Shield is more than an organization -- it’s a vibrant, intergenerational community of trailblazers, mentors, and philanthropists who believe in the power of education to transform lives. Each year, we contribute more than $100,000 in student scholarships and provide ongoing mentorship to the next generation of Bruins. We also fund stipends for Institute of American Cultures Summer Internships and scholarships for Ethnic Studies graduate fellows.

We also recognize academic excellence through the $30,000 Gold Shield Faculty Prize, awarded annually to a midcareer faculty member making outstanding contributions to teaching, research, or creative work.
