Gold Shield Alumnae
Gold Shield Alumnae of UCLA was the first recipient of the Association’s Alumni Network of the Year award in 2016.
Gold Shield was founded in 1936 by 12 women to provide service to the university and its community, and has grown from a small group providing two $150 dollar scholarships to an organization of nearly 150 members who have contributed more than $2 million to the UCLA Alumni Scholarship Program, and annually provides more than $100,000 in student scholarships.
Watch Gold Shield Alumni Scholars reflect on their awards.
Each year, we also recognize a faculty member for extraordinary achievement in teaching, research or creative activity with the $30,000 Gold Shield Faculty Prize Award for Academic Excellence. Additionally, we are committed to the UCLA Oral History Program and to the Ethnic Studies Program, as well as other campus initiatives.
Our members have served the university, their communities and their professions with distinction, and their tremendous accomplishments to further the work of scholars, faculty and the university by providing funding for scholarships and faculty awards are all points of great pride.
We are grateful to the many donors who, over the years, have made it possible for our organization to support UCLA in numerous ways. Please contact us to contribute and assist us in continuing our mission.
