About

Mission
Gold Shield promotes and sustains excellence at UCLA through financial support, mentorship, and service that enriches the Bruin community.

Who We Are
Gold Shield is an honorary organization of UCLA alumnae who are distinguished leaders, dedicated to making meaningful contributions to the university. While membership begins as a commitment to UCLA, it quickly becomes something more -- a connection to a dynamic network of accomplished women who inspire and support one another.

Our work reflects values that guide both our internal culture and our external impact:
Innovation – Striving for excellence and relevance through collaboration and forward-thinking service
Inclusion – Building a welcoming, diverse, and respectful community
Optimism – Approaching challenges with positivity and purpose
Integrity – Acting with honor, transparency, and trust
Friendship – Nurturing connections that span generations

A History of Giving for Targeted Impact
Gold Shield’s legacy is rooted in purposeful philanthropy. We believe deeply in the role education plays in changing
lives—and we invest in people and programs that advance that belief.

  • Over $5 million in assets managed through The UCLA Foundation
  • More than $2 million in scholarships, fellowships, and internships, supporting over 900 students since 1936
  • A $700,000 endowment supporting the Gold Shield Faculty Prize, university archives, and library collections
  • Ongoing support for Ethnic Studies programs, the BEST Project (through Equity, Inclusion & Diversity), and Spring Sing's Esprit de Corps award
