2026–2027 ULAA Board Nominations
Thank you for your interest in serving on the UCLA Latino Alumni Association Board of Directors. We welcome both self-nominations and nominations from the broader UCLA community.
Nomination Timeline
- Term: July 1, 2026, through June 30, 2027
- Nomination deadline: 11:59 p.m. Friday, April 24, 2026
- Acceptance confirmation: April 23–29
- Required documents: Resume or CV due May 1
- Interviews: Zoom interviews held May 4–22
- Final selection notification: June 9–19
- Board announcement: By July 1, 2026

Eligibility
- All nominees must have attended at least one ULAA event or information session within the past three years.
- To be considered for president, vice president, or associate vice president, candidates must have completed one year of ULAA leadership within the past three years.
Selection Process
- Complete the nomination form.
- Submit a resume or CV.
- Participate in a Zoom interview.
- Candidates are evaluated based on their prior contributions and service by a committee of ULAA stakeholders.
- New board members are officially appointed by a majority vote of the Ad Hoc Committee and notified by June 30, 2026.
Responsibilities
- ULAA is a working board and requires up to 40 hours per month, or 10–20 hours per week, of volunteer time.
- Attendance at monthly board meetings, held virtually or in person as needed, is mandatory.
- Alumni Engagement, Fundraising, Marketing, Student Success, and University Relations cochairs are responsible for leading recruiting committee volunteers, organizing, and facilitating monthly meetings. Specific committee goals are shared at board member orientation.
- Act as a ULAA ambassador by representing and upholding the organization’s mission and values, complying with its bylaws, attending at least three ULAA events throughout the academic year, and promoting ULAA activities by sharing events within their personal and professional networks.
- Board members are expected to prioritize philanthropic support for ULAA through a donation, actively participate in at least one fundraising committee initiative or purchase a ticket to a fundraising event organized by the fundraising committee.
Board Structure
The ULAA Board of Directors consists of 15 members. The board may establish special committees as needed, with membership, duties, and term length determined by board approval.
Board Positions
- President (2-year term, no more than 2 consecutive terms): Serves as the official spokesperson and representative of ULAA. Responsibilities include calling and presiding over board meetings, serving on a standing committee, overseeing external financial accounts with board approval, and hosting monthly board meetings.
- Vice President (1-year term with option for 1 additional year upon re-appointment): Assists the president and assumes presidential duties when necessary. Serves on a standing committee.
- Associate Vice President (1-year term with option for 1 additional year upon re-appointment): Assists the president and vice president. Assumes vice presidential duties if the vice president is absent or resigns.
- Secretary (1-year term with option for 1 additional year upon re-appointment): Serves as custodian of ULAA records and maintains meeting minutes, agendas, and archives. Presents minutes for board approval, maintains inventory and materials, and serves on a standing committee.
- Treasurer (1-year term with option for 1 additional year upon re-appointment): Oversees ULAA financial operations, including fiscal administration, quarterly reports and analyses, and coordination of financial accounts. Serves on the Finance Committee.
ULAA Committees (1-year term with option for 1 additional year upon re-appointment)
- Alumni Engagement Co-chairs (2): Engage alumni through communications and in-person and virtual events.
- Fundraising Co-chairs (2): Lead and track ULAA fundraising efforts.
- Marketing Co-chairs (2): Manage website updates, newsletters, design assets, and social media.
- Student Success Co-chairs (2): Oversee the ULAA mentorship program and engage scholarship recipients.
- University Relations Co-chairs (2): Facilitate alumni-student networking and career events and engage on university policy issues affecting Latino alumni.
