OrgullOSO Mentorship Program

UCLA Latino Alumni Association OrgullOSO Mentorship Program

Background: Established in 2016, the UCLA Latino Alumni Association OrgullOSO Mentor Program fosters meaningful relationships between ULAA scholarship recipients and Latino alumni. This annual program has benefited our scholarship recipients as well as their mentors. In 2020, we expanded this program to all UCLA undergraduate and graduate students who identify as Latino, Latina or Latinx.

This year, the mentorship program will be hosted on the UCLA ONE platform. Therefore, in order to participate, you will need to create a UCLA ONE profile no later than Sept. 30, 2024. Please be sure to fill out your profile with as much information as possible, especially all of the questions with drop-down menus. Having a robust UCLA ONE profile will help us to better match you with a student with similar interests or career paths. Creating a UCLA ONE profile does not obligate you to participate in the mentorship program. If you decide you do not want to participate in the mentorship program, you can still take advantage of the other benefits having a UCLA ONE profile has to offer.

Becoming a Mentor

Share your knowledge and experience! Become a mentor to a current UCLA undergrad or graduate student. The program runs from October 2024 to June 2025. As a mentor, you can support, advise and guide students who seek mentorship from alumni like you. Our goal is to match mentors and students based on interests and experience levels.

Step 1: Follow this link to create your UCLA ONE profile. When you create your profile, select that you wish to offer mentorship. To make yourself available to be an OrgullOSO mentor, select the OrgullOSO Mentor Program checkbox in the Offer Mentorship section.

Step 2: Once you have created your UCLA ONE profile, follow this link to join the OrgullOSO Mentor Program group on UCLA ONE.

Step 3: You're matched! We will match you with a student based on your UCLA ONE profile and will notify you of your match. Mentors will only be matched with one student and possibly two students. We anticipate a monthly time commitment of about one to three hours.

For more information, questions about creating your UCLA ONE profile or the program, please contact UCLA ONE Support at ace@support.ucla.edu, or the co-chairs of our scholarship committee, Tarah Bearbower or Dr. Maritza Cha, at latino@alumni.ucla.edu.

Please note that the general UCLA Alumni Mentor Program and the UCLA Latino Alumni Association’s OrgullOSO Mentorship Program are two separate programs.
