Types of Alumni Scholarships

By completing one application, you will be considered to receive one of the many scholarships provided through the Alumni Scholarships Program:

Freshman Alumni Scholarships

Freshman Alumni Scholarships are awarded through an application screening and interview process by alumni volunteers. Scholarship awards are divided into equal annual installments to be paid over four years. Deadline: Feb. 19

Regional Interviews: March 31, April 7 & 8

National Finals Competition: Every April, top-scoring scholarship applicants participate in a competition at UCLA to potentially increase their base scholarship award up to $20,000 paid over four years. This competition is a 30-year tradition of the Alumni Scholarships Program. 2018 Competition: April 21 & 22

Community College Transfer Alumni Scholarships

Community College Transfer Alumni Scholarships (CCTS) are for students transferring to UCLA from a Community College.

Scholarships are awarded through an application screening process by alumni volunteers. The scholarship award is divided into equal annual installments to be paid over two years. Deadline: May 15

Requirements

  • Applicants must attend UCLA beginning the fall quarter immediately after transferring.
  • Eligible students must have a minimum 3.75 GPA.
  • At the time they apply, applicants must have completed the equivalent of 90 UC-transferable quarter units, at least half of them from community colleges.

Bunche Alumni Scholarships

Bunche Alumni Scholarships recognize and support UCLA students from historically underrepresented backgrounds. This scholarship continues the legacy of Dr. Ralph J. Bunche `27, who was class valedictorian, a Nobel Peace Prize winner and a founder of the United Nations.

Alumni Legacy Scholarship

Is your parent or guardian a Bruin? The UCLA Alumni Legacy Scholarship is for academically talented undergraduate students who have a parent or guardian that is a UCLA degree holder. The applicant must be admitted to UCLA under the standard admissions process.

Out-of-State Alumni Scholarships

Want to join us in sunny California? Out-of-State Scholarships provide an outstanding opportunity for highly accomplished students from outside California to fund their UCLA education. The Out-of-State Alumni Scholarship is awarded through an application screening process with some regions requiring a local interview. The award is divided into equal annual installments – to be paid over four years for freshman, and two years for transfer students.

Out-of-State Scholarships are funded by UCLA alumni networks and generous philanthropic support of alumni throughout the country.

Benefits of Being an Alumni Scholar

Being an Alumni Scholar is more than just receiving a scholarship. Scholars are involved in campus events and organizations, increase their connections to the university, build their leadership skills at UCLA and stay involved as alumni. Benefits include:
